Management

Gary Woolrich has taken on the mantle of First Team Manager with Ian Cooper (former club secretary) taking on the support role formerly held by Gary.

Previous details

Steve Norris, his assistant Gary Woolrich and their backroom team arrived at Hanley Town in the summer of 2006 to replace former management team Darren Stairs and David Price.  They joined having left North West Counties Divison 2 club Norton United in May after a disagreement with the club's committee.  The "Nogger" and "Gaz"  partnership has now been in place for 6 seasons.  Steve Norris had been out of football management since resigning from Leek Town in 1995, but was coaxed back into playing for Adderley Green for a season in 2000  by friend Ivan Fenton.  Their manager at the time was one Gary Woolrich.  At the end of the 00-01 season Gaz asked Nogger to take over as manager and has remained as his faithful right hand man ever since. 

They led Adderley Green, who later became Norton A.G. to a Midland League Cup success and to a Leek Cup win as well as finishing runners up once and third place twice in three seasons in the Midland League, and losing a Staffordshire Vase Final on penalties to Eccleshall. 

As Norton A.G. had become the Norton United second team, the duo were the natural choice when Norton were looking for a replacement for Dave Agu in summer 2004.  During their two seasons as the management team at Norton they secured the club's highest ever league placing of 5th in the North West Counties Second Division, had two exciting F.A. Cup runs and masterminded the historic victory over Manchester United breakaway club F.C. United at Gigg Lane in Bury - Making Norton the first team ever to beat them!

They were just about getting used to the idea of starting a season without a club when the offer to manage Hanley Town came late into the summer of 2006.  However, after meeting the Hanley committe Nogger and Gaz and their two trust lieutenants Colin and Dave, dusted off the tracksuits and took on the challenge.  After finishing as runners up in the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division and winning the Leek Cup in their first season in charge, the management team are already looking forward to the challenge of regaining the league title next season..... and adding some more silverware to boot!!
